Truck rental services
What is a transport rental?
Transport rental is a rental of a vehicle with or without crew for a fee. Various vehicles can be rented and the lessee takes responsibility for the safety of the vehicle. Renting trailers, platforms, etc. is also relevant. For such services it is necessary to make a rental agreement; the lessor can be an individual, an organization or an individual entrepreneur. While the rental agreement is in effect, the responsibility for maintaining and repairing the vehicle lies with the lessee. If the vehicle is rented for a long period of time, then passing the technical inspection can also be transferred to the current lessee.
The lessee also purchases gasoline, consumables, working fluids (oils, antifreeze, etc.) at their own expense. If parties have agreed that the owner pays for the fuel, this is stated as a separate clause in the lease agreement. A transfer of the vehicle to the lessee and its return are documented, indicating (after inspection of the vehicle) all defects, scratches and dents. In such case the lessor is obliged to fix the defects of the vehicle or must pay all repair costs.
All transportation taxes are most often paid by the lessor. However, when the vehicle is rented for a long period of time, this duty can be transferred to the lessee. All fines are paid by the person renting the vehicle.
It is recommended to issue a power of attorney (permission to travel) for the lessee and to document this in the contract. Important! If the vehicle is used for the regional or international freight transportation and the carrier is not the owner of the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle must carry a copy of the vehicle rental agreement.
